Photographs by David Burdeny

April 18- May 30

Opening Reception: Saturday, April 18, 4-6 pm

David Burdeny’s photography is informed by a curiosity and sense of discovery, which he achieved at an early age. Influenced by notable photographers Michael Kenna, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Fay Goodwin, Burdeny learned his craft as a young boy, developing black and white prints out of a makeshift darkroom in his bedroom closet.   His Master’s degree in architecture and design has influenced the formalist approach to his compositions, carefully framing static elements and combining a deliberate use of low light and unusually long exposures to reveal that which may not be readily apparent to the naked eye.  Some of Burdeny’s imagery extends past literal pictorial depictions to meditative or abstract interpretations of the landscapes he encounters.
