Peter Dayton grew up on the North Shore of Long Island and studied painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, earning his BFA from Tufts University. He also studied under Nam Jun Paik at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dayton took a turn to play in a band for
many years before settling down to work diligently in his studio in East Hampton, where he currently resides. Inspired by Warhol’s dead pan Pop, Dayton’s work is expressed through renowned assemblages and collages of flower pictures. Another well-known series are his surfboard-inspired works that draw from Minimalism.
