A Northwest native, Betsy Eby references natural phenomena to evoke a sense of the spiritual and ethereal. Old growth in forests, blossoms, mist, flowing water and the like are rendered as abstract impressions on canvases that have been layered multiple times with pigment and encaustic. Her love of music and classical piano punctuates her work with subtle movement and rhythmic patterns. Eby has enjoyed an extensive solo and group exhibition history in the last two decades in galleries and museums throughout the United States. Her work is included in several U.S. Embassy collections worldwide, as well as museums and corporate collections in the United States
