U.K born James Nares studied at the Chelsea College of Art in London, and then moved to New York where he attended the School of Visual Arts. His work focuses on movement, rhythm and repetition, with his paintings being characterized by a single brushstroke. Nares has been exhibited extensively in the USA and abroad. Recent solo shows at the Wadsworth Athenauem and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His work is held in the public collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and The Whitney Museum of Art.
