Sabine Friesicke

Sabine Friesicke is a minimalist artist hailing from Hamburg, Germany. She studied at the Liberal Academy of Arts and the University of Fine Arts, both in Hamburg. She is most known for her time paintings and drawings, which aim to manifest the feeling of time passing in visual form. She works with just a brush, a canvas, some ink, and a metronome, drawing a line with each passing second. This meticulous process can take upwards of 20 hours to complete. She keeps track of the minutes that she spends creating these marks, ultimately naming the piece after the number of seconds gone by. Friesicke lives and works between New York and Berlin.
