Pegan Brooke’s abstract paintings are visual metaphors of the ephemeral found in nature, such as light reflections on water. Her pigments are formed from pure elements of the earth such as mica, aluminum, pewter and bronze powders, and iron oxides. Brooke has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and her work can be found in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum in New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Des Moines Art Museum and the Anderson Collection in California, to name a few. Her work has also been critically reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times and Artweek, among other publications. In addition to holding an MFA, Brooke is also a Professor Emerita at the San Francisco Art Institute and has given numerous art lectures throughout the country.
