Brooklyn-based artist Deborah Kass acknowledges her art historical forbears, such as giants Andy Warhol, Ed Rusche, Frank Stella and Jackson Pollock. She can at times unapologetically appropriate their imagery and re-contextualize it to posit current social commentary. She is also known for her tongue-in-cheek text-based work, most recently the over- sized “OY/YO” sculpture on view in Brooklyn.
