Sarah Amos studied at the Phillip Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. She earned her MFA from the Vermont Studio Center/Johnson State College and became a Master Printer at the Tamarind Institute. She creates unique small and mural size collagraphs by building upon multiple prints with hand drawing overlay. Amos has received fellowships at the Santa Fe Institute Residency, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland, and Kaus Australis Residency in Holland. Her work is in the collections of the De Cordova Museum and Sculpture Park, the Tweed Museum, and Prudential Insurance, Boston.
Sarah Amos has won a 2014 Painters & Sculptors Grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation New York. The grant program was established in 1993 to assist contemporary artists and acknowledge painters and sculptors creating work of exceptional quality. Nominators and Jurors are prominent visual artists, curators, and art educators who are dedicated to supporting artists. Of the 3,000 nominations, 25 were awarded the grant.
